"Dear Alexander Boyd! I want to thank you for your professional approach and service. My mother was repeatedly refused reunification with me in Scotland."
What your fixed fee does and doesn't cover
The advertised fixed fee is per person and covers the standard legal work specifically described in this package. It does not include third-party costs, translations, interpreters, expert reports, counsel/advocate/barrister fees or substantial additional work outside the agreed scope unless expressly stated.
Additional work arising after submission, including correspondence or complaints concerning Home Office delays, is not automatically included in the fixed fee. We may undertake such work without additional charge at our discretion, but where substantial additional work is required a separate fee may apply.
This fixed fee is for standard applications. If you've had a previous refusal, entered the UK illegally, claimed asylum, had any immigration law breaches, prior convictions or any other adverse immigration history, please book a consultation first. These cases may need additional work and a separate quotation, and we'll recommend the right route.

Pre-action Protocol for Judicial Review: UK Immigration Lawyer Letters that Get Results
When the Home Office makes a decision that is unlawful, irrational or procedurally unfair, the next step is judicial review. Before going to court, you must send a pre-action protocol letter. A properly drafted letter often gets the decision withdrawn or reviewed without proceedings ever being issued. Our £599 fixed-fee package gives you that letter, prepared by a UK immigration lawyer.
What is a Pre-action Protocol Letter?
A pre-action protocol letter, sometimes called a PAP letter, is a formal letter that sets out the decision being challenged, the legal grounds of challenge, the remedy sought, the deadline by which the Home Office must respond, and the consequences of not responding, including judicial review proceedings.
The letter is sent before issuing a claim in the Upper Tribunal or High Court. It is required by the Civil Procedure Rules.
When This Service is Right for You
- A refusal letter with material legal errors.
- A decision that has not addressed key evidence.
- Procedural unfairness in an asylum, human rights or visa decision.
- Unreasonable delay where there is no other remedy.
- Detention or removal decisions that need urgent challenge.
What the £599 PAP Package Includes
- Full review of the decision letter and supporting papers.
- Identification of the legal grounds, for example error of law, irrationality, breach of policy, breach of Convention rights.
- Drafting of the PAP letter to civil procedure standards.
- Service on the Government Legal Department.
- Review of any reply from the Home Office.
- Advice on whether to proceed to issue judicial review.
Why a UK Immigration Lawyer Letter Has Force
The Home Office reads PAP letters from solicitors differently to letters from applicants. A letter that cites the right legal framework, the right case law and the right remedy carries weight. Around half of properly prepared PAP letters in immigration cases result in the decision being reviewed without the cost of full proceedings.
Why Choose a Glasgow Immigration Lawyer for Judicial Review Pre-action Work
Judicial review of Home Office decisions is run out of the Upper Tribunal in England and Wales, and the Court of Session in Scotland. We run both. A Glasgow immigration lawyer based at the Court of Session is well placed for Scottish judicial review work in particular.
