You've probably got ten tabs open already. Maybe you've been on the phone with family. Maybe it's the middle of the night. This page is for people in Glasgow whose immigration situation has just changed, and who want a real solicitor to look at it fast.

Here's what we offer. A consultation with a qualified immigration lawyer, normally within 24 hours of you booking. That isn't standard in the Scottish immigration market. The Calendly link is at the bottom of this page.

We won't tell you on a webpage that we'll lodge your appeal today, get you bail by Friday, or stop a flight before we've read your papers. No one can say that without seeing your file. After a proper consultation we may take any of those steps. Until then, the answer is: let's look at it together.

Glasgow city centre, served by Alexander Boyd Solicitors for emergency immigration matters

Is this an emergency?

Worth a quick check before you go further. If the wrong move today closes options tomorrow, it's urgent. If you have weeks to think, it isn't.

Situations worth booking a consultation about straight away

  • Your visa expires inside 48 hours and no application has been lodged
  • A 14-day appeal window after a refusal is days from closing
  • A Home Office letter has given you 5 to 10 working days to respond and you don't have the documents
  • Your sponsor has lost their licence and the 60-day grace period is counting down
  • A child is about to lose status because of a parent's situation
  • Removal directions have been served with a flight date inside the next 14 days
  • A family member has been detained

If none of those quite fits, a consultation is still the right next step. It's just a calmer one.

What you get from a consultation

The fee is £175 including VAT. For that, you get:

A qualified immigration solicitor reading your papers before the meeting.

A 30-minute conversation about your situation in plain English, or in any of the six languages Alexander Boyd speaks.

A clear view of your options, in order of strength, and which ones are worth pursuing.

A written follow-up that confirms the route and the next step.

A fixed quote for any package or piece of work that follows, with no obligation to take it up.

You leave the consultation with a plan written down and a price.

The packages people in urgent situations usually need

If after consultation the route is clear, our work runs on fixed-fee packages. Every package fee includes VAT and is per person. Home Office application fees are extra and paid directly to the Home Office. The most common urgent-case packages:

Immigration Bail Application – £999

For detained clients. Bail application prepared, with attendance at the hearing. Immigration Bail Application package.

Pre-action Protocol for Judicial Review – £599

The formal challenge letter that often gets a flawed Home Office decision withdrawn before court. PAP for Judicial Review package.

First-tier Tribunal Appeal – £1,999

Appeal representation covering grounds, bundle preparation, skeleton argument and the hearing. First-tier Tribunal Appeal package.

Deportation Appeal – £2,499

For people facing a deportation order. Expert reports are quoted separately where the case calls for them. Deportation Appeal package.

Fee Waiver Package – £840

Where you can't afford the Home Office application fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge upfront. Fee Waiver package.

FLR(HRO) Application – £1,440

For Article 8 family and private life applications. FLR(HRO) package.

What to have ready before the consultation

You'll get more out of it if these are in front of you on the call:

Your Home Office reference. It usually starts with a letter and seven digits, or it may be a CID number if there's been any enforcement contact. The most recent letter from the Home Office will have it printed near the top.

The letter that triggered the panic. Refusal, curtailment notice, detention paperwork, removal directions, whatever applies. Keep the envelope.

Your passport and BRP if you have one. Dates of any earlier applications, even old ones.

The deadline. Write it on the front of the letter in pen.

Names and dates of birth for partner and children if anyone else's status is affected.

Common questions

How quickly can I see a solicitor?

Most consultations are booked within 24 hours. Evening and weekend slots are usually available. Pick the slot that works in the Calendly link.

Do you do legal aid?

No. We work on fixed-fee packages and clear hourly rates.

Do you attend Dungavel?

We don't attend at the detention centre itself. After consultation, where bail is the right route, the £999 Immigration Bail Application package covers preparation of the bail application and attendance at the hearing. Where counsel is preferred or required, counsel's fees are quoted separately.

The Home Office has given me ten days to send documents. Is that worth booking a consultation about?

Yes. The consultation will tell you whether the documents you have are enough, what's missing, and what to do about the gaps in time.

Can you stop a removal flight?

Sometimes a judicial review pre-action letter or fresh-claim representations buy time or get the flight cancelled. Whether that's realistic in your case depends on the facts. The consultation will tell you.
