Emergency immigration solicitor in Edinburgh
Same-day and out-of-hours help from a qualified solicitor. Consultations usually within 24 hours of booking.
Your immigration situation has just changed and you don't have the time to wait three weeks for an appointment. That's the reason this page exists. The job here is to get you in front of a qualified immigration solicitor fast.
What we offer is a consultation, normally within 24 hours of you booking. £175 including VAT, 30 minutes, at our Edinburgh office, by video, or by phone if that's easier. After the call you'll know which of your options fits, in order of strength, and what the next step costs as a fixed fee.
We won't promise a rescue before we've read the papers. No "we'll have the appeal lodged tomorrow" or "we'll stop the flight tonight" before we've seen your case. After consultation we may take any of those steps. Before that, the answer is: let's look at it together.
Is this same-day urgent?
Quick check before you read on. Most people who land here are right to be worried, but not every situation on this list needs a phone call within the hour.
Situations worth booking a consultation about straight away
- Your visa expires inside 48 hours and no application has been lodged
- A curtailment notice has arrived from your Scottish university after attendance or progression issues
- A 14-day appeal window after a refusal is days from closing
- Your Skilled Worker visa is going to lapse because your sponsor has lost the licence
- A Home Office letter has given you 5 to 10 working days to respond and the documents aren't ready
- Your ILR or settlement application window is about to close
- Removal directions have been served
- A family member has been detained
If none of those quite fits, a consultation is still the right next step. Just a calmer one.
What you get from a consultation
The £175 fee covers:
A qualified immigration solicitor reading your papers before the meeting.
A 30-minute conversation in plain English. Translation is available in the six languages Alexander Boyd speaks.
A clear view of your options in order of strength, and which are worth pursuing.
A written follow-up confirming the route and the next step.
A fixed quote for any package or piece of work that follows, with no obligation to take it up.
You leave the meeting with a plan written down and a price.

What to have ready before the call
Your Home Office reference number. It usually starts with a letter and seven digits, or it may be a CID number if there's been any enforcement contact. The most recent letter from the Home Office will have it printed near the top.
The letter that triggered the panic. Refusal, curtailment notice, detention paperwork, removal directions, whatever applies. Keep the envelope.
Your passport and BRP if you have one. Dates of any earlier applications, including refused ones.
The deadline. Write it on the front of the letter in pen.
Names and dates of birth for partner and children if anyone else's status sits on yours.

Common questions
How quickly can I see a solicitor?
Most consultations are booked within 24 hours. Evening and weekend slots are usually available. Pick the slot that works in the Calendly link.
Are appointments in person at the Edinburgh office?
Yes, in person, by video, or by phone, whichever suits. The Edinburgh office handles cases for clients across the Lothians, Borders and Fife, and remotely for clients elsewhere.
Do you do legal aid?
No. We work on fixed-fee packages and clear hourly rates.
The Home Office has given me ten days to send documents. Is that worth booking a consultation about?
Yes. The consultation will tell you whether the documents you have are enough, what's missing, and how to fix the gaps in time.
Can you stop a removal flight?
Sometimes a judicial review pre-action letter or fresh-claim representations buy time or get the flight cancelled. Whether that's realistic in your case depends on the facts. The consultation will tell you.
My visa just expired. Am I in trouble?
Possibly less than you think, but you need to know fast. The consultation tells you which route protects what's left of your status.
